The situation in Pakistan ahead of ICC Champions Trophy seems to have just gotten murkier. The tri-nation series between Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand will commence from February 8, just 11 days before the start of CT 2025.
Champions Trophy in Pakistan unsafe?
As per Daily Ausaf, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has approved the deployment of the Army and Rangers for the tri-nation series in Lahore. A company of Pakistan Army and the Rangers will be deployed for each game. The move reportedly stemmed from a letter written by the Punjab Home Department to the federal government on the request of the police.

Meanwhile, the renovation works at the stadiums in Lahore and Karachi are yet to be complete. As per a recent report, the venues are expected to be handed over to the ICC only five days before the start of Champions Trophy. It is pertinent to mention that the renovation works at the venues are still in their final stages and that the deadline has been missed thrice already. Pakistan is racing against time to get the stadiums ready before CT 2025 commences.
“It seems absolutely impossible to contemplate the renovation work being completed within the deadline, but the personnel handed the responsibility are beaming with confidence,” a Pakistan publication had said, citing sources.
Pakistan will be hosting its first ICC event in decades as it prepares to host Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, India will play all their matches in the tournament at a neutral venue (in Dubai).
