Due to a finger injury, Mitchell Starc will be unable to play in the New Year’s Test in Sydney.
The 32-year-old left the field briefly on day one of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa on Monday after being whacked on his left middle finger while attempting a catch in the MCG outfield.
Later, it was noticed that the left-arm pacer had thick strapping on the tip of his finger.
“He‘ll play this Test in great discomfort, but it’s at least six weeks recovery,” cricket reporter Peter Lalor told SEN.
“It’s tendon damage to that middle finger, that bowling finger.”

The Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kickstart in Nagpur from the 9th of February. Team India will then play the next three Test matches in Delhi, Dharamsala & Ahmedabad. This will also be the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be a 4-match Test series feature.
