West Indies secured a convincing 16-run victory over South Africa in the second T20I at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, clinching an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This series win is a major boost for West Indies who will be hosting T20 World Cup from next month.
West Indies set Imposing Target
Opting to bat first, the Windies posted a competitive total of 207/7 on the board. Roston Chase led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten knock of 67 runs off just 38 deliveries. Openers Johnson Charles and Brandon King got the innings off to a decent start, but both departed early.
Kyle Mayers provided some impetus with his six-hitting cameo (32 off 16), but it was the partnership between Chase and Andre Fletcher (56 runs) that laid the foundation for the late onslaught.
A quickfire 63-run stand between Chase and Romario Shepherd in the final overs propelled the Windies past the 200-run mark.
South Africa fall short
Chasing a challenging target, South Africa got off to a flying start thanks to an explosive opening partnership between Quinton de Kock (41 off 17) and Reeza Hendricks (34 off 18).
The duo smashed seven sixes and six fours in the powerplay, putting the Proteas in a commanding position. However, the Windies bowlers clawed their way back into the game, with wickets falling at regular intervals in the middle overs.

Motie, Shepherd lead bowling fightback
Gudakesh Motie (3-22), Romario Shepherd (1-23), and Roston Chase (1-26) were the pick of the West Indies bowlers, stifling the South African chase. Captain Rassie van der Dussen (30 off 22) tried his best to revive the innings, but wickets continued to tumble at the other end.
South Africa needed a big finish in the final overs, but Shepherd’s tight bowling (13 runs conceded in 2 overs) ensured victory for the Windies.
