Afghanistan announce squad for T20 World Cup, Rashid Khan to lead team

The ACB announced the Afghanistan squad for the T20 World Cup, with no major surprises in the team.

Late on Tuesday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. As expected, ace leg-spinner, who is busy at the IPL 2024 at the moment, will lead the Afghani team, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammed Ishaq will be the two wicket-keepers.

Noteworthily, the ACB also named the 39-year-old Mohammad Nabi in the team, while another of their senior pros, Ibrahim Zadran, who led the T20 side in Rashid’s absence, also found a place in the squad.

One of the major exclusions from the team was that of ODI skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi, who isn’t considered a T20I option anyway.
