‘Advantage of having multiple leaders..’: Sai Kishore reveals Shubman Gill-led GT’s winning formula

Sai Kishore grabbed the limelight in a game that was much talked-about because of his clinical bowling. Kishore gave away only 24 runs in his 4 overs and picked up the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma.

Among all the talk about Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill in the Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians game in the IPL 2024, Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore grabbed the limelight with his wonderful bowling that provided the momentum back to the Gujarat Titans at a crucial juncture of the game. Kishore, who picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma and gave away only 24 runs in 4 overs, spoke to the press after the game on various pointers including GT’s plan, how special it was to take Rohit’s wicket and the importance of having multiple leaders in the squad.

On his bowling plans

I was just trying to go into the wicket and mix my pace. We felt that we were 10 runs short but this team runs on the principle that we give a lot of emphasis on competing. Whether we win or lose, we are really proud of the way we play,” Kishore said when asked about his bowling plans.

“I think we completed very well and that was the talk given by Ashish Nehra as well. The culture that he has built over the last two years here, people are just focused on competing in the game,” he added.

Grateful for Rohit Sharma’s wicket

Sai Kishore picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma at a juncture when the former MI captain was running away with the game. Kishore trapped the Indian skipper right in front of the wicket and brought GT back into the game. When asked whether it was a special wicket, Kishore said, “Of course, he is a match winner. To get a player like him at that stage of the game, I’m very grateful.”

We think like champions: Kishore

Sai Kishore also emphasized on the advantage of having multiple leaders in the lead, claiming it helps the team think like champions.

A lot of leaders in the group always helps. The advantage of having a lot of leaders in the group is that people always carry themselves to think like champions. That is what is happening in this team. David Miller is the captain of South Africa, Rashid Khan is leading Afghanistan, Kane is the captain of New Zealand,” Kishore said.

Shubman’s inputs were fantastic

Kishore also praised Shubman Gill, who played his first game as a captain of an IPL team. “Shubman also led the team very well. It didn’t look like he was leading for the first time. Even to me as a spinner, the inputs he gave were fantastic,” he said.
