Ubisoft has reportedly closed its Winnipeg and Belgrade studios, impacting around 380 employees as part of its ongoing global restructuring efforts.

The restructuring process at Ubisoft continues as the company announces the closing of two additional studios, causing hundreds of layoffs around the globe. Ubisoft Winnipeg based in Canada, and Ubisoft Belgrade from Serbia were the two studios to close down, signaling yet another major step by the publisher in the restructuring process.

According to reports, the closures have impacted approximately 380 employees, further reducing company’s workforce as the company adapts to changing market conditions and internal strategic priorities.

Ubisoft Shuts Down Winnipeg and Belgrade Studios

Ubisoft Winnipeg, established in 2018, initially worked mainly as a technological and supporting studio for the organization. The staff was actively involved in creating and supporting the technology used by Ubisoft, such as the Snowdrop and Anvil game engines.

Throughout its work history, the studio provided assistance to many games, which included Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Crew 2, and Skull and Bones. It is worth mentioning that the employees were notified about the closing of their office during a company meeting, where there were about 85 jobs affected.

On the other hand, the Belgrade studio will also be shutting down after ten years of existence. Ever since it opened in 2016, Belgrade has been responsible for working on a number of games.

Among its list of projects were the video game Steep by Ubisoft, Skull and Bones, and many others. This closure signals the end of ten years of development in the country.
