Six Teams advance to MPL Malaysia Season 17 Playoffs

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 17 Regular Season has officially concluded, setting the stage for a defining moment in Malaysian Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports as the country’s top MLBB teams prepare to compete for the national title, a place on the global stage, and the honour of carrying Malaysia’s esports ambitions forward.

MPL Malaysia Season 17 Playoffs – Overview

The conclusion of Week 8 confirmed the six teams that will advance to the MPL Malaysia Playoffs: Selangor Red Giants (SRG), Invictus Gaming (iG), Team Vamos (VMS), RRQ Tora (RRQ), Team Rey (TR), and Bigetron MY by VIT (BTRM). After weeks of intense competition, these teams will now enter the Playoffs with more than the Immortal Cup on the line.

Malaysia’s path to international glory has been paved

With the Road to the Esports World Cup (EWC) now set, Malaysia’s leading MLBB teams will compete for the chance to represent the country on one of esports’ biggest international stages. The Playoffs will decide which team earns the right to lead Malaysia’s campaign and challenge for the coveted EWC title.

This season also carries added national significance following the confirmation of Malaysia’s MLBB line-up for the Asian Games. Representing the nation will be Ealtond “Loleal” Rayner (Gold Laner), Muhammad “Zqeef” Azman (Roamer), Ammar “Martzy” Rahman (Mid Laner), Muhammad Nazhan “Chibi” Mohd Nor (Jungler), Muhammad “Sizkaa” Sazali (EXP Laner), and Mohammad Zul Hisham “Xorn” Mohd Noor (Alternate Roamer). They will be led by Doly “SaintDeLucaz” Sihotang (Head Coach), Nur “Haru” Adnan (Assistant Coach), and Jason “JIFDEGaming” Yap (Analyst). The team will compete at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore, from 18 to 21 June, as they fight to secure Malaysia’s place at the Asian Games Qualifiers and carry the nation’s hopes onto the international stage.

“With MLBB making its Asian Games debut, we hope Team Malaysia can qualify and bring home a medal for the country. Majulah esports untuk negara (Long live esports for the nation)”, said Muhammad Naim Al-Amin Saharudin, President of the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF).

Together, these milestones reinforce MPL Malaysia’s role as the country’s proving ground for elite esports talent, showing how MLBB esports has become a serious pathway for Malaysian players to bring pride to the country.

Week 8 Table Watch

Week 8 brought the MPL Malaysia Season 17 Regular Season to a dramatic close, with the final two Playoff spots decided in a series of high-stakes matches. BTRM and RRQ secured their berths to complete the six-team Playoff lineup. BTRM were the week’s standout performers, arriving with a point to prove. Led by Cikugais (Mid Laner), they swept both Team Flash (FL) and iG on Days 1 and 2 respectively, cementing their place in the Playoffs with an authoritative run that left little doubt about their intentions heading into the postseason.

AC Esports (AC) narrowly missed out on qualification after falling to VMS on Day 2. However, they ensured they wouldn’t exit quietly. Led by Aeronshikki’s (Gold Laner) signature Clint pick, AC swept RRQ on Day 3 in an emphatic final statement to end their Season 17 campaign. FL also closed out their season on Day 3, finishing without a win across the week, and will now look to regroup and return stronger in Season 18.

SRG rounded out the Regular Season in fitting fashion, defeating TR to close their campaign on a dominant note, and carrying strong momentum into the Playoffs as they continue their pursuit of a fifth consecutive MPL Malaysia title.
