Injuries are a big part of the IPL, and over the years, the concerns have only grown for the players participating, and also the franchises. IPL 2026 is a classic example, where despite being picked months before the event starts, the players just can’t keep up to the grueling fitness demands of the league. Close to 20 players are injured only after 5-6 matches — across all teams.
Some of the players aggravated already existing conditions, some picked up injuries during the tournament, and some while playing matches. Team KKR are perhaps the worst hit due to these untimely injuries this year, which occur usually to pace bowlers. Before the start of IPL 2026, they lost Harshit Rana due to a knee issue, then Akash Deep was ousted due to a lower back issue, while Mustafizur Rahman was withdrawn due to political reasons, leaving Kolkata a depleted squad.
SRH too are missing four players from their current roster, and their bowling, along with KKR, appears to be the weakest. They don’t have Cummins, Jack Edwards, Brydon Carse and David Payne. CSK have lost the likes of Nathan Ellis and Khaleel Ahmed, which is bound to mount their problems.
With the injury toll rising almost everyday, Insidesport takes a look at all the injuries that have taken place in the IPL since 2024, and which teams have been worst-hit.

The injury conclusion
There is no doubt that SRH, CSK and MI have suffered the most on account of injuries since 2024. Hyderabad has seen as many as eight players being ruled out of the entire tournament, and so have Chennai, while Mumbai come close with seven. Even out of these teams, it is CSK, who haven’t quite recovered from the these losses.

In 2024, Pathirana was their main strike bowler who played only 6 matches, to bag 13 wickets. Thereafter, their attack suffered greatly. Even Fiz, who picked up 14 wickets in 9 matches, had to leave midway, putting the side in a lurch; eventually the team finished fifth and could not qualify for the playoffs. In 2025, losing skipper Gaikwad was the last thing they wanted. He was injured just after 5 matches, and MS Dhoni had to lead the team thereafter. As a result, they finished last in the points table.
As for Hyderabad, 2026 looks like the season, where they will realise the value of having a fully-fit unit. Their bowling is not clicking with 4-5 injuries, and no clarity when Cummins will be match-fit. Last-to-last year, they took a heavy punt on Hasaranga, as a player who could not only pick wickets for them in the middle overs, but also score some runs lower down the order, but he could not play a single game.
