Roblox Corporation has announced a major update to make the platform safer for younger players. The company is introducing two new account types called Roblox Kids and Roblox Select, designed for users under 16. These accounts will roll out soon and will automatically adjust content access. This update aims to give parents more control while creating a safer and more age-appropriate gaming experience.
In this article, we will cover every important detail you need to know about this Roblox introduction of the New Age-Based Accounts system and more.
Roblox Kids and Select Accounts Explained
The new system divides younger users into two groups. Roblox Kids accounts are for ages 5 to 8, where players can only access games with very low content levels. Communication is completely turned off by default to keep children safe. These accounts will also have a different design so users can easily recognize them.
For players aged 9 to 15, Roblox Select accounts will allow access to slightly more content, including games with moderate ratings. Communication settings will remain similar to current options, but still within safe limits.
As players grow older, their accounts will automatically upgrade. At age 9, kids’ accounts move to Select, and at 16, users get a standard Roblox account.

Stronger Safety System and Parental Controls
Roblox is also improving its safety system with better moderation and parental controls. Games available to younger users will go through extra checks, including developer verification and content review.
Parents will now have more control, such as blocking specific games, managing chat settings, and even approving certain games manually.
The platform will also continue using age-check systems and plans to introduce global content ratings like ESRB and PEGI in the future. Overall, this update makes Roblox safer while still allowing kids to enjoy and explore games in a controlled environment.
