A lot is happening in world cricket, most of which revolves around the T20 World Cup 2026. Some positive news for India relating to Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan. Australia has been dealt a major injury blow. Pakistan makes a childish error, and the USA’s cricket team is coming to India united.

Tilak Varma injury update
Tilak Varma has been cleared to return to competitive cricket by the Centre of Excellence (CoE). The 23-year-old had undergone emergency surgery on January 7 and has been on the sidelines since. Tilak’s expected to play two warm-up matches, one for India ‘A’ and one for the main team, before joining India’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

Samson fails at home
Sanju Samson’s fifth consecutive failure was followed by a spectacular maiden T20I hundred for Ishan Kishan in Thiruvananthapuram. Before the series, there was no battle for the wicketkeeper spot, with Samson expected to partner with Abhishek Sharma. However, it now looks unlikely that Samson will start ahead of Kishan in the T20 World Cup.

PCB makes ‘statement’ mistake
The PCB didn’t unveil Pakistan’s jersey for the T20 World Cup on January 31 in Lahore. The event was slated to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium but didn’t happen. It was speculated that the Pakistani government had not cleared the PCB to travel to Sri Lanka. But then it came to light that PCB had mistakenly released a statement that confirmed their participation in the event, before retracting it.
