The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026 is entering its next major phase. After the In-Game Qualifiers wrapped up, thousands of teams were narrowed down to the strongest performers. Now, Round 1 is ready to begin, marking the first major step in the main BGIS 2026 tournament. With a massive ₹2 crore prize pool on the line, every match from this stage will be crucial.
BGIS 2026 Round 1: Format and More
Round 1 is the starting point of the main BGIS 2026 event. A total of 1,024 teams will compete in this stage. Out of these, 1,016 teams qualified directly from the In-Game Qualifiers by finishing at the top of their matches.
To manage such a large number of participants, Krafton has divided the teams into 64 groups, with 16 teams in each group. The format is designed to be swift but fair:
- Matches per Group: Each group will play a total of 6 matches.
- Qualification Criteria: The top 7 teams from every group will automatically advance to Round 2.
- Wildcard Slots: To ensure no high-performing team is left behind due to a “group of death,” an additional 48 teams (based on overall standings across all groups) will also qualify.
Along with qualified teams, the bottom 8 teams from The Grind Group D also enter Round 1. The Grind stage plays a crucial role in shaping BGIS 2026, giving invited teams a second chance to secure better seeding and prove their consistency before the main rounds begin.
