WWE SmackDown Results (January 25): Damien Priest arrives, LA Knight reigns supreme & more

An action-packed Friday night WWE Smackdown kicked-off with Cody Rhodes addressing the high-octane contract signing with Kevin Owens that is set to take place on Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) which will be moderated by the legendary Shawn Michaels. In the in-ring action, the Motor City Machine Guns had the last laugh as they defeated Pretty Deadly in the tag-team contest. Damien Priest was drafted to SmackDown and defeated Hayes in his very first match. Meanwhile, LA Knight dominated the Bloodline, and made sure Braun Strowman came face to face with Jacob Fatu.

WWE Smackdown results

1. Motor City Machine Guns (W) vs Pretty Deadly

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin picked up a rather comfortable victory over Elton Prince and Wilson to kick-off WWE Smackdown. MCMG got what they wanted after Pretty Deadly had attempted to intervene during the former’s match against Los Garza last week, but in vain. The contest saw MCMG kicking off the match by double teaming against Wilson. Pretty Deadly seemed to have momentarily take advantage, thanks to a distraction from Prince followed by the duo sending Sabin over the barricade.

Following the commercial break, Sabin landed a kick to the side of Elton’s head, allowing Shelley to be tagged in. The back-and-forth action finally came to an end when MCMG landed the Skulls and Bones finisher on Wilson, with Shelley picking up a win after the pin.

2. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven vs Michin & B-Fab (W)

The team of Michin and B-Fab picked up a win over Piper Niven and United States Women’s champion Chelsea Green in what was a very short match. Michin has the last laugh as she hits Chelsea with the Eat Defeat and pins her to pick up the win.

3. Liv Morgan, Candice Le Rae & Nia Jax (W) vs Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair & Naomi

A six-women tag team match was set up after a brawl broke out between WWE Women’s champion Tiffany Straton, WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, WWE Women’s tag team champions Bianca Belair & Naomi, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax and Candice Le Rae. All women declare themselves for the 2025 Royal Rumble. A headbutt from Ripley to Morgan kick starts a brawl in the ring. General Manager Nick Aldis is quick to make it a six-women tag team match. Morgan has the last laugh in the match as she hits Bianca with the Crucifix to pick up the win for the team.

4. Apollo Crews (W) vs Johnny Gargano

Apollo Crews picked up a win against WWE Tag Team champion Johnny Gargano despite his partner Tomasso Ciampa attempting to play spoilsport in the match. With the help of a distraction from Motor City Machine Guns, Crews was able roll up Gargano and seal the win.

5. Tama Tonga vs LA Knight (W)

LA Knight started off on a powerful note against the Bloodline member with a couple of right hands followed by a powerslam. The action spilt over to the ringside soon, with both wrestlers using the barricade and apron to their disposal. Jacob Fatu attempted to intervene by jumping on the apron but LA Knight kicked him out. A BFT to Tonga meant LA Knight clinched the W. But the action wasn’t done yet. The Enforcer made Knight pay the price with a Samoan drop onto the announce table. Braun Strowman comes to the rescue of Knight and he goes face to face with Fatu in the ring. The Bloodline member attempts a splash but the Monster Among All Men moves out of the way, leaving Fatu and Tonga retreating.

6. Damian Priest (W) vs Carmello Hayes

Hayes goes to Nick Aldis seeking a match with Jimmy Uso, who had earlier challenged Kevin Owens to a match later in the night. The SmackDown General Manager has other plans and introduces Damien Priest as the latest addition to the show’s roster. He makes a match between Priest and Hayes official. The former World Champion picks up a win to start his new journey on SmackDown on a victorious note.

7. Jimmy Uso vs Kevin Owens (W)

Jimmy is attacked by Hayes just before the match begins. Security rush in to get thing in order and the match is finally underway. Jimmy puts up a good fight against the Prize Fighter, with both men throwing all they have got against each other. In the end Kevin picks up the win. He attempts to assault Uso on the announce table after the match. Cody Rhodes rushes in to help Uso. The WWE champ trades blows with Owens and the show goes off air amid the brawl.
