WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights: Check out the big highlights and what happened on WWE Friday Night Smackdown Episode on 12th February: This week’s Friday Night Smackdown aired live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Los Angeles. The show got one step closer to the Elimination Chamber PPV and we witnessed a perfect main event where Charlotte Flair defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Naomi in a mouthwatering contest. WWE Smackdown – Smackdown Results and Highlights:

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair vs. Naomi- The match started with a classic wrestling lock with Charlotte pushing her to the corner, displaying her strength. Charlotte was up with her offense but met with a step-up kick from Naomi on the apron. Charlotte fell from the apron to the floor and Noami dived on her from over the top rope before we head into commercials.

After we returned from the commercials, we saw both Charlotte and Naomi in the ring and Nami looking to fight back into the match with her impressive moves. Naomi caught the champion off guard with a kick on the face followed by a cross-body dive from the top turnbuckle.

She went for a cover, but the champ kicked out at 2 counts. Charlotte then returned with her offense and was dealing with Naomi’s offense for good. Despite taking a kick on her thigh, Charlotte was in control and went for a hard knee on the back of Naomi.

The two women went back & forth at each other again before Naomi took the aerial route and nailed a terrific move from the top turnbuckle on Charlotte. She went for a cover but the champ survived again. The two women went outside the ring now and Naomi got bashed knee-first into the steep steps by Charlotte Flair. We now head into commercials again.

After the commercials, both ladies were in the ring and Naomi was working on the champ. She was all over the champ now and Charlotte was getting impatient. Naomi’s impressive moves were bothering Charlotte and she was getting impatient. The New Orleans crowd was all behind Naomi and she was getting charged up.

Charlotte went to the top turnbuckle and tried going for a reverse moonsault, but Naomi put her knees up on time and then hit Charlotte with a rearview. She went for a cover but the champ kicked out of the finisher. Naomi was stunned and we were seeing near fall after near fall from both the ladies.

The crowd was up on their feet and cheering for Naomi. In the closing moments of the match, Naomi tried going for another Rear View but this time Charlotte evaded and chopped on the back of Naomi’s knee. She then followed the chop with a Natural Selection to pin Naomi.

After the match got over, Sonya Deville entered the ring and attacked Naomi. She was joined by Charlotte Flair and the two ladies were attacking Naomi before Ronda Rousey’s music hit and she came rushing down to the ring to make the save. She got the better of both Sonya & Charlotte and save the day for Naomi.

 

 

Goldberg’s interview- Goldberg got interviewed by Michael Cole. When Cole told him that many people think that his return this time is one more than too many, the Hall of Famer responded by saying that he doesn’t care about anyone who thinks that he can’t defeat Roman Reigns.

He went on saying that 2 years making, 10 years in the making, or 15 years in the making, he doesn’t give a damn to all of this. The only thing he is focused on is making Roman Reigns acknowledge him as the new Universal Champion so that he walks into Wrestlemania to collide against Brock Lesnar and get his ass kicked.

Backstage- Madcap Moss was seen attending WWE’s medical facility and told him that due to last week’s Claymore his right eye vision is a bit blurry and he won’t be able to face Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber.

The doc checked his vision and while he was doing so, Drew McIntyre entered the scene. He told him that he had a word with Adam Pearce and he told him that their match at Elimination Chamber will now be a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Happy Corbin vs. Cesaro- The match started after the commercials, and Happy Corbin was all over Cesaro in the early stages of the match. Corbin attacked Cesaro’s collar bone with repeated elbow strikes. He was wearing down Cesaro and hit him with a Deep Six.

After the Deep Six, Corbin hoisted Cesaro on the top turnbuckle and was thinking to go for a superplex but Cesaro countered it with a swinging DDT from the top turnbuckle. The action moved outside the ring for a while and Cesar bashed Happy Corbin into the barricade and followed it up with an uppercut.

Cesaro then took Corbin inside the ring but after some back & forth action between the two men and especially after Corbin rocked Cesaro with a thunderous clothesline, he followed it with an End of Days to secure a win

IN-Zayn with Sami Zayn with Special Guests Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs- Before the segment could have started, a video footage got rolled on the big screen where it was shown that Johnny Knoxville entered the WWE center and destroyed Sami Zayn’s merchandise.

Sami wasn’t impressed with the video footage and said that I don’t wanna talk about Knoxville, but focus on the Intercontinental Championship. As Sami was talking, Rick Boogs interrupted him with Shinsuke’s introduction. In a while, both Boogs & Nakamura entered the ring.

Sami Zayn started off on the mic by saying for 4 weeks Nakamura has been ducking him for the title opportunity, but finally next week he will get his title shot. The two men then exchanged a few words and Nakamura made fun of Sami Zayn. Zayn then targeted both Boogs & Nakamura. Finally, Boogs asked Zayn to shut up and was about to say something on the mic. Just when he grabbed the microphone placed on the table, he got an electric shock.

It was a setup from Sami Zayn. Nakamura went towards Boogs to check on him, but Zayn took advantage and hit Nakamura with a Helluva Kick to end the segment.

Aliyah vs. Natalya- The match started with Natalya taking the early honors. She went for a head-scissor early on and was up with her offense. Aliyah had nowhere to go and was feeling the heat with Natalya’s attacks.

Natalya was all over Aliyah, but the latter find some momentum when she went for a breast press and unloaded with a series of strikes. After taking some strikes from Aliyah, Natalya found a way to place the iconic Sharp-Shooter on her opponent. Aliyah showed some resilience for a while but eventually tapped to the submission maneuver.

After the match got over, Natalya started attacking Aliyah and was setting her up for yet another Sharp-Shooter before Xia Li came to the rescue. Xia came rushing down the aisle, entered the ring, and attacked Natalya to rescue Aliyah.

Roman Reigns’ exclusive interview: The Universal Champion Roman Reigns got interviewed by Michael Cole. Cole started off by asking Roman’s views on his Elimination Chamber opponents the ‘Iconic’ Goldberg.

Cole reminded Roman Reigns about Goldberg’s accomplishments in WCW and how he went on to win 175 matches and defeat the undefeated Hulk Hogan. Cole reminded Reigns that Goldberg is a 2-time Universal Champion and how he defeated Brock Lesnar in 86 seconds at the Survivor Series PPV event in 2016.

Roman Reigns wasn’t bothered with Goldberg’s achievement and laughing at it. He said that it was all past and Goldberg could have defeated him 2 years back but now things are different, he is different and Goldberg doesn’t stand a chance against him at all. He ended the interview by saying, “I’m going to Goldberg, Goldberg.”

 

 

Backstage: The Viking Raiders were about to get interviewed before they were brutally assaulted by their Elimination Chamber opponents, the Smackdown Tag-Team Champions Usos.

The New Day vs. The Los Lotharios- Big E and Angel started the proceedings for the match with Big E grabbing Angel in a side headlock. Angel tried getting away from it by grabbing Big E from his waist, but E was too powerful for him to lift. Big E then tagged in Kofi Kingston, and after an offense or two, Angel started wearing down Kofi.

He tagged his partner Humberto and he also continued from where Angel left. He was attacking Kofi but the latter dragged him to the apron, tagged Big E who body splashed on Humberto on the apron. Angel tried attacking Kofi from behind but tumbled outside the ring where Humberto was present already. Kofi then took the aerial route with a running dive from over the top rope on the Los Lotharios as we head into commercials.

After we returned from commercials, we saw Angel and Big E in the middle of the ring with Angel wearing down the former WWE Champion. Big E went through some attacks of Angel before flooring him with a belly-to-belly and tagged in Kodi Kingston.

Kofi was now on the attack and was taking out both the members of Los Lotharios. We saw some really impressive moves from both teams. We saw Kofi going on the top turnbuckle but Angel distracted him only to be caught outside the ring and getting bashed into the barricade. Kofi tried going aerial again and this time he got the move perfect. He covered Humberto, but Angel made the save.

In the closing moments of the match, Humberto went for a reverse Moonsault on Kofi and went for a cover, but the latter survived. Humberto then tagged Angel who somehow managed to roll up Kofi and earn a surprising win over The New Day.

Sonya Deville in the ring- Sonya Deville is in the ring and she is here to address the WWE Universe. She starts with inviting the crowd and then talked about the last week’s attack of Ronda Rousey on her. She tells the WWE Universe that she has asked the upper management to fine Ronda with $100,000 and should be given an indefinite suspension.

As Sonya was talking, Adam Pearce came out and told her that she hasn’t read her email of late and there was a message from Chairman Vince McMahon himself. The message read that Sonya has been abusing her powers against Naomi and Ronda Rousey, therefore her plea to suspend Ronda Rousey is rejected and she won’t be imposed with any fine as well.

The message also added that Sonya should not get involved in Naomi’s Smackdown Championship match tonight otherwise there would be serious consequences and her jog might be in jeopardy. The segment ended with Naomi making her way to the ring and spalling Sonya on her face.
