Sure, he will rebound, especially considering how much effort management has put into presenting him as one of the elite young stars on the roster. With Balor busy facing challenges from Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin, though, the future is uncertain for Crews.
It is strange to see someone who was previously on such a roll drop two significant matches as Crews has. Balor and Corbin may be elite wrestlers for NXT, but in order to prevent the audience from considering the dynamic young competitor, a choke artist, management and NXT Creative will have to tread lightly while booking him in the future.
Winners: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady
The Certified G and Big Cass wasted little time overwhelming and dispatching their unnamed opponents on this week’s show, and in the process, they sent a loud and clear message to NXT tag team champions Dash and Dawson as well as any other tag team that stands between them and gold.

They were more aggressive than fans have seen them to this point, and their intensity—both on the mic and in the ring—was a welcome addition to the team’s act.
Loser: Emma
After turning in an extraordinary performance against Asuka in London, it felt like Emma had momentum on her side and would potentially earn a shot to wrest the women’s title from Bayley.
Then she lost the No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal to start the year, and on this week’s broadcast, she suffered an upset loss to Carmella. It was a major setback for the Australian-born Diva, who has unfortunately endured far too many of them in her young WWE career to this point.
She was clearly the better wrestler on Wednesday night, though that was of no real surprise to anyone who has ever watched her compete.

The current NXT champion is a rarity in today’s pro wrestling landscape in that his character is that of a champion. He is not an authority stooge, a Beast Incarnate, a Wyatt Family cult leader, or a Lunatic Fringe. His status as the world champion of the hottest brand has engulfed him, superseding anything else Creative has attempted to do with him.
