In a recent interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE Superstar Val Venis shed light on how Steve Austin was backstage. He mentioned that Austin was a bit paranoid and unapproachable despite his trying to strike a connection with the WWE legend.

“I would try to go Austin every once in a while because lets face it that guy had a connection with the fans that was unbelievable and so I tried to pick his brain a few times but Austin always seemed standoffish to me, very defensive. So I never really got a whole lot out of Austin. A little bit paranoid I think and I think that made it a little but uncomfortable for me to approach him on a regular basis.”

WWE News: Steve Austin describes one of the toughest moments of his life

Stone Cold Steve Austin retired from pro wrestling after his legendary match with The Rock at WrestleMania 19. However, he fought his last match against Kevin Owens this year at WrestleMania in front of his home crowd.

Speaking to Bill Apter for Sportskeeda, Austin explained that retiring at such a young age was not an easy decision to make.

“Believe me, retiring at 38 was the toughest, one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to do, walk away from the business that I love so much. This is one of the things that I love more than anything in my life. I have my family, and of course, they are very close to me, but professional wrestling, you want to call it sports entertainment, it’s all the same to me. This is one of my biggest, if not the biggest, passions of my life. So it was very hard for me to walk away at 38 years of age.” h/t Sportskeeda
