WWE News: William Regal on Sasha Banks: Not many women in WWE have enjoyed a career as decorated as that of Sasha Banks. She made her debut in the Stamford-based promotion in 2012 and went on to become the NXT Champion a few days later. Since then she has held numerous other championships which include becoming a five-time WWE Raw Women’s Champion, one-time WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion, and three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Former WWE Superstar William Regal, who was instrumental in the growth of the promotion’s developmental circuit shed light on the time he met Sasha for the first time. Speaking on his “Gentleman Villain” podcast, Regal explained the conversations that took place between them back in time.
“When I first met her, she was either 18 or 19 and it was in Boston. I was in catering and she was an extra. She asked to come and sit with me and ask questions more than once. I’d help anybody, so I just answered whatever questions she had, and whenever I saw her, same thing.” (H/T Wrestling Inc.)

Banks made headlines earlier this year when she and Naomi walked out of Monday Night RAW without taking part in the main event.

Fast forward to today, Banks is one of the most popular stars in WWE. She has lately been working as a tag team with Naomi after previously flourishing as a singles wrestler.
In the same interview, Regal mentioned that he put his job on the line in order to push the Boss in her career.
“Long story short, there came a time when she had a tryout and there were certain people in certain positions who didn’t see anything in her, “Regal added. “I just knew that there was something special, but I knew it was going to take a few years…I actually said ‘If this doesn’t work out, then you can take my job away from me.’ …I just knew she’d be an incredible, good, talented professional and it worked out, I think.” (H/T Wrestling Inc.)

Sasha Banks is currently signed to WWE SmackDown but is currently suspended due to their infamous walkout a few months back.
