WWE Backlash 2023: The WWE is returning to Puerto Rico after 18 years with the upcoming Backlash 2023 event on May 6. The event will be held at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan and hosted by three-time Grammy winner Bad Bunny, who made his WWE debut at WrestleMania in 2021. WWE Backlash 2023 Prediction: Rhea Ripley(C) vs Zelina Vega (Smackdown Women’s Championship)
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Rhea Ripley is the current women’s champion and is expected to retain her title against Zelina Vega at Backlash. Ripley’s popularity is rising, and WWE should give her a dominant victory. There’s speculation about whether Ripley’s Judgment Day team members will be by her side during her reign. Dominik Mysterio, her partner, has been getting booed, and there’s potential for creative storytelling with that dynamic. However, there’s also a chance WWE might split them up, as seen in the draft where Zelina was grouped with the L.W.O. and Ripley was packed separately.
Backlash 2023 Prediction: Bianca Belair (C) Vs Iyo Sky (Raw Women’s Championship)
Winner: Bianca Belair
Although I believe Bianca Belair’s championship reign may not last much longer, I don’t think it will happen at Backlash. Despite her mixed crowd reactions and lack of character development, there hasn’t been enough build-up for a major storyline shift. However, Iyo Sky is a fantastic wrestler, and there have been hints about potential changes for her group, Damage CTRL. Many fans expect a breakup in the future, but if WWE plans on using this match to make a big statement, they should have invested more time in building it up. Unfortunately, the women’s division could benefit from more attention and development.
