According to rumours, Punk and KENTA were going to fight at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door II. The match was ultimately postponed, and CM Punk faced Satoshi Kojima in its place.
According to earlier reports from the time, the Second City Saint was very upset about playing KENTA. These remarks, though, might just have fit the narrative.
