Randy Orton, a future WWE Hall of Famer who has been sidelined for more than a year due to a back issue, is apparently still not anticipated to make a quick recovery.

People close to Orton have reportedly stated that he is “nowhere near” receiving a medical clearance to compete, despite rumours that he would be seen in Detroit this weekend for SummerSlam, according to Fightful Select (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News).

The Usos defeated Matt Riddle and Orton in a WWE Tag Team Championship unification match on SmackDown in May 2022, ending Orton’s career.

The Usos attacked RK-Bro and pushed Orton through the announce table after their victory. Since then, The Viper has not appeared on any WWE programming.

Because he was able to display a different and more jovial side of his character, Orton was teaming with Riddle and getting some of the loudest and most enthusiastic crowd reactions of his career prior to having surgery.

The Apex Predator will have plenty of choices available to WWE if and when the time comes for him to make his in-ring comeback, including the ability to change him from a singles wrestler to a member of a tag team.

Because of his versatility, Orton is extremely valuable, and it’s clear that WWE’s decision-makers would do anything to bring him back at some time.
