Even the United World Wrestling tweeted about the situation, stating that they took a pause for a safety check. However, they later stated that the matches are going to resume in an hour. However, there was no official explanation on the matter.

As for the Indians in the fray, the day got off to a brilliant start. Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia have reached the  quarterfinals of their respective competition. Bajrang defeated Lowe Bingham with pinfall while Deepak cruised past Mathew Oxenham 10-0 with technical superiority.

Other Indian athletes like Anshu Malik, Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Sonam Malik are yet to feature in the wrestling mats at the CWG 2022.

With India fielding a strong team, the Indians are expected to take home a flurry of medals from Birmingham. Some of the favourites for gold medals are Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia, Ravi Kumar, Vinesh Phogat among other.
