Before proceeding to answer the question at hand, let’s take a quick recap of the feud between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar’s Feud
The feud between Lesnar and Rhodes began when Brock Lesnar attacked Cody Rhodes on WWE Raw following WrestleMania 39. With that, Rhodes challenged Lesnar to a match at WWE Backlash 2023. At Backlash, Cody defeated Lesnar.
Following that, on WWE Raw after Backlash 2023, The Beast once again attacked Cody Rhodes. A rematch was then set between the duo at WWE Night of Champions. At Night of Champions 2023, Rhodes fought Lesnar with a broken arm, however, he failed to defeat The Beast Incarnate. Following that, Lesnar went on a hiatus.
Why was Brock Lesnar away from the ring after WWE Night of Champions 2023?
The simple reason why Brock Lesnar was on a hiatus following Night of Champions, is probably because WWE wanted a trilogy match between Lesnar and Rhodes to take place at WWE SummerSlam 2023. The match was probably not planned for Money in the Bank, because the card for the premium live event was already stacked.
Also, Lesnar’s absence from the ring gave Rhodes time to heal his arm. Besides that, Rhodes also gained some momentum after his defeat at Night of Champions, since The American Nightmare recently defeated Dominik Mysterio at MITB 2023.
However, Lesnar recently made his return on WWE Raw following Money in the Bank 2023. Lesnar walked out but was taken out by Cody Rhodes. Thus, since Lesnar has returned to WWE, we’ll get to see the feud between Rhodes and Lesnar continuing and concluding at SummerSlam 2023.
