As per recent reports, the former WWE Champion will return on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown. Recently, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported about his return. However, it is blurry if Sheamus will compete in the SmackDown World Cup starting this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.
“Sheamus, who has been away from WWE for his recent wedding, is scheduled to be back on the road with WWE as of Friday’s Smackdown taping in Indianapolis, PWInsider.com can confirm,” stated Mike Johnson.
WWE has listed Sheamus and the rest of the Brawling Brutes as babyfaces on the blue brand’s internal roster. In recent months, Sheamus played a crucial role alongside Gunther in the Intercontinental Title storyline.
Both men competed at Clash at the Castle for the first time in a very intense match, where he received a standing ovation from the fans for his heavy hitting. Despite losing the match, WWE Universe praised the 44-year-old for his in-ring skills.

The upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown will be the Fall-out episode after Crown Jewel. The Undisputed Universal Champions The Usos will defend their tag team titles against The New Day. The Usos will compete to break New Day’s record for the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history.
