Recently, the former Raw Women’s Champion expresses her views on working with both babyface and a heel character. Although Becky Lynch’s rise in WWE started with The Man gimmick, she favored her heel character to get on the top.
During an appearance at NYC Advertising Week, Becky Lynch expressed why she prefers a negative role over a babyface. While speaking, she mentioned the difference between fans’ support for both gimmicks and how the babyface character restricts her from being free. She explained how being babyface always questions her about being perfect all the time.
Meanwhile, she also explained how it feels working being a heel. “But then when it comes to business and wrestling as a whole, especially women’s wrestling, I feel like I can be of help by being a heel, right? Because when you’re a babyface, it’s all about you. It’s about how good you look. It’s how do we make the audience like you the most? And when you’re a heel, it’s all about how do you make the babyface look? How can you get people invested and want to see this guy win? I feel like I’ve gotten enough equity with the audience that I’m able to help a babyface. And then as a whole, that just helps women’s wrestling. Last year, Becky Lynch made her much-awaited return at SummerSlam 2021 defeating Bianca Belair in 25 seconds. Since then, she acquired a heel gimmick calling herself Big Time Becks with a successful run with the championship.

Being the Raw Women’s Champion, The Man delivered several promos and competed in intense matches, ending up in a controversial win sometimes. Despite being a heel, WWE fans supported her for her in-ring chemistry with Bianca Belair. Both women continued to feud for a long time until Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch twice on separate occasions.
After the recent SummerSlam defeat, the former Raw Women’s Champion promised to bring back The Man gimmick to continue her fight for the gold.
