WWE News: Three worst WWE PPV events of 2021- 2021 was an amalgamation of highs and lows in terms of WWE PPV events. Live audiences were not in attendance for the first half of the year, but the latter half saw the WWE Universe back in attendance.

The series of PPVs in 2021 kicked off with Royal Rumble on January 28 and ended on November 21 with Survivor Series PPV, making 2021 the first year in WWE history to not conduct a PPV event in December.

Out of the 11 PPV events in 2021, there were some exceptional ones, but at the same time, there were some PPVs, which failed miserably to amuse the WWE Universe. In this post, we have listed three PPV events in 2021 that were nothing but a flop. So without any further ado, let’s take a close look.

WWE News: WWE Extreme Rules

The 13th annual WWE Extreme Rules PPV event took place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on September 26. The Arena that capacitates over 16,000 people at once only managed a crowd of 13,455 people for the PPV, which raised voices for the lackluster show WWE put together.

One of the major drawbacks of the show was that only one match of the namesake took place during the PPV. Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor for the Universal Championship was the only Extreme Rules match that saw one of the most ridiculous and awful finishes of the year, with Roman Reigns again prevailing in WWE’s quest to continue his long-lasting title reign.

The only highlight of the show was the return of ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks, who interfered in Becky Lynch’s Smackdown title defense against Bianca Belair. The match ended in a DQ win for Bianca Belair, but Becky retained her title. Below are the results of matches held at the WWE Extreme Rules PPV event,

  • Kickoff- Liv Morgan defeated Carmella.
  • The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods) defeated The Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, Shelton Benjamin)
  • Smackdown tag-team Championship- The Usos (c) defeated The Street Profits.
  • Raw Women’s Championship- Charlotte Flair (c) defeated Alexa Bliss.
  • United States Championship- Damian Priest (c) defeated Sheamus & Jeff Hardy in a triple-threat match.
  • Smackdown Women’s Championship- Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch (c) via DQ after Sasha Banks interfered.
  • Universal Championship- Roman Reigns (c) defeated Finn Balor in an Extreme Rules

WWE News: WWE Survivor Series

The final PPV hyped around the return of the ‘Great One’ The Rock, but the WWE Universe was left disappointed as the former World Champion didn’t appear at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on November 21 for the PPV event.

WWE Survivor Series 2021

The 35th annual WWE Survivor Series marked the 25th Anniversary of The Rock in WWE and was rumored for an appearance at the PPV event, but nothing of the sort happened. WWE failed to promote or push the matches listed on the match card, and it was probably for the first time that the Survivor Series PPV event, the only event to focus on brand supremacy, took place without any buzz. Below are the results of matches held at the WWE Extreme Rules PPV event,

  • Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Damian Priest (via DQ)
  • Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair.
  • Team Raw (Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Kevin Owens, Austin Theory, and Bobby Lashley) (with MVP) defeated Team SmackDown (Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, King Woods, Happy Corbin, and Sheamus) (with Madcap Moss)
  • The Rock’s 25th Anniversary 25-man duel brand Battle Royal- Omos won.
  • Randy Orton & Riddle defeated The Usos.
  • Team Raw (Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Queen Zelina, Rhea Ripley) defeated Team Smackdown (Shotzi, Sasha Banks, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Toni Storm)
  • Roman Reigns defeated Big E.

WWE News: WWE Wrestlemania Backlash

The 16th Backlash PPV event was more of a Wrestlemania 37 fallout PPV edition that took place inside the Thunderdome on May 16, 2021. The match card was more or less similar to what we saw during the two-night Wrestlemania 37, and it was the only reason why WWE Universe didn’t welcome Wrestlemania Backlash with open hands.

The only high octane match of the night was the triple-threat bout for the WWE Championship. • Kickoff- Sheamus defeated Ricochet
