WTC Final: Indian stars Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara were involved in a humorous incident prior to their practice on Friday for the World Test Championship Final match against Australia. For those who are unaware, Pujara is currently playing for Sussex in English county cricket while simultaneously training with the Indian team in preparation for the summit match, which will begin on June 7 at The Oval. Instead of travelling with the squad, he drives his own car to the practices. Jadeja was a little taken aback when he saw this and said to Pujara, “Sahi hai Pujji Bhai. Private car main.”

Pujara seemed to be in excellent form during the recent practice sessions, showing aggressiveness against the bowlers. He is one of the few Indian batters who has had a substantial amount of red-ball cricket practice going into the WTC final.

Pujara had been with County side Sussex throughout the last two months, and he had played for and led the team in a few of the team’s matches, while nearly all of the top Indian players were occupied with the Indian Premier League season.

He became his team’s leading run-scorer. He accumulated 545 runs in six innings, striking out at a rate of 64.80, and he had a terrific average of 68.12. Pujara could provide valuable insights to his teammates, having played extensively at Sussex.

Given that he has scored more Test runs and hundreds against Australian bowlers than any other team, Pujara is known to enjoy the difficulties given his way. His contribution will be essential to India’s prospects of winning the WTC trophy in their second attempt.

Pujara, who bats at No. 3, has 2,033 runs and five centuries in 24 Tests against Australia, and Rohit Sharma, the team’s captain, would be hoping that he contributes a few more crucial runs for the team in the WTC final.
