WTC Final 2023 – IND vs AUS: ICC will persist with Dukes Balls for World Test Championship Final 2023 between India and Australia. It is to be noted that in past English summer, the softness of Dukes’ has been a major talking point. The County Championship bowlers have complained that the balls are softer than usual and lose form quickly.
At The Oval in London, India and Australia will compete for the World Test Championship title from June 7 to June 11, with June 12 serving as the reserve day.
The Oval will serve as a neutral ground for both Australia and India because of the different ball used there and the fact that the conditions are not quite as favourable as they are at home.
For home matches, India uses SG balls, whereas Australia uses Kookaburra. The ball used by the ICC is determined by the “host country” for the event, in this case, England, which employs the Dukes.
Even last year’s World Tennis Championship final between India and New Zealand in England was played with the Dukes.

The County Championship bowlers last summer have complained that the balls are softer than usual and lose form quickly. In one game, Durham versus Glamorgan, the ball was replaced seven times.
Owner of British Cricket Balls Ltd. and maker of the Dukes, Dilip Jajodia, had claimed he had no idea why the balls acted differently in the early summer.
Jajodia sells between 4,000 and 5,000 balls to the professional game in England, and likes of Stuart Broad and James Anderson prefer Dukes because of their stronger seam.
Australia uses a machine-made Kookaburra ball, which softens significantly more quickly. The Dukes is unique because each is hand-stitched and made of organic materials.

This summer, County Cricket will use the Kookaburra ball for two complete rounds of Championship play.
The ECB told the directors of cricket in the 18 First-class counties in January that they would test the Australian-made balls in response to a proposal from the high-performance review, which is presided over by former England captain Andrew Strauss.
The Ashes fall throughout the selected time frame, which runs from June 25 until July 13.

At the post-match press conference following the Ahmedabad Test, India captain Rohit Sharma stated that “some Duke balls” will be sent to bowlers who are headed to the WTC Final.
