Women IPL T20 Challenge: Mithali Raj, cricket experts & fans blasts BCCI for ‘STRESSFUL SCHEDULING’ of Women IPL T20 Challenge, Check Why?
While highlighting the extent of the issue Mithali Raj pointed out that it is unfair on girls to play two matches with almost no time in between.
“As far as playing in the afternoon is concerned, we haven’t even got 12 hours to recover from yesterday’s game. So clearly yes, it has been difficult for the girls to prepare themselves and come back and play the afternoon game after playing last night.”, Mithali declared.
What is the controversy all about? –
- As per the schedule, every team will play two group matches before heading to the final.
- Supernovas are scheduled to play in the opening contest on Monday, May 23, at 7:30 PM
- While Supernovas will again take the field on Tuesday, May 24, less than 16 hours after the end of the first contest.
- The unfair schedule has thus raised question marks on the stressful scheduling of the matches in the Women’s T20 Challenge.
Mithali’s own experience of fatigue during the Women’s T20 Challenge-
- In the 2020 edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge, Mithali Raj – had been forced to play on consecutive days.
- In her second match, the fatigued team were bowled out for 47 and lost by nine wickets.
- Mitahli’s own stressful experience of scheduling has raised concerns and brought forward the fatigue factor in the limelight.
I’d like the BCCI to tell one of the 10 men’s teams to play one match at 7:30 pm and the next at 3:30 pm the next afternoon. All this in end May in Pune!

No place for Mithali and Jhulan Goswami in the Women’s T20 Challenge –
- The BCCI, on Monday, May 16 announced the squads for the three-team Women’s T20 Challenge 2022.
- The Women’s T20 Challenge will be held in Pune from 23rd May to 28th May 2022, neither of the two retired T20I Indian veterans – Mithali Raj or Jhulan Goswami have been named in any of the teams.
- There will be four matches including the final, with each team playing every other team once. After two group matches, top two teams will contest the final.
