Who gets the Purple Cap? – Right from the time when IPL kickstarted in 2008, the purple cap was introduced, which would be awarded to the highest wicket taker of the tournament. Throughout the season, the purple cap holder will be changing and the one who finishes on top of the wicket-takers chart once the season ends, will get an award in the replica of the purple cap. He will also be awarded 10 Lakhs as prize money.
- The Purple Cap is offered to the leading wicket-taker of the season.
- The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
- In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.
