WI Tour of India – Rift in West Indies Cricket? Kieron Pollard & Coach Phil Simmons have been accused of victimization of fellow cricketer Odean Smith. Both will have to attend a meeting called by West Indies Players Association (WIPA) & the Cricket West Indies (CWI). According to a report by SportsMax, the meeting was earlier scheduled for Saturday but now has been postponed until the end of the ongoing T20 Series against England.
The West Indies lead the series 2-1 with the final two matches scheduled to be played on Saturday and Sunday.

Rift in West Indies Cricket? Contrary to statement by CWI which claimed that ‘all is well & no meeting is scheduled over alleged rift in the West Indies cricket team’, Sportsmax report says WIPA recieved an email from CWI Director Jimmy Adams about the scheduled meeting.
The meeting according to the report will now take place next week. Pollard led Caribbean team is due to fly to India on 2nd February & the meeting will take place just before that.
Why the meeting has been called? The matter surfaced earlier this week when allegations were being made that Jamaican all-rounder Odean Smith was being victimized by the team leadership. Smith was eventually dropped for the third match played on Wednesday that the West Indies won by 20 runs.

Both CWI & Simmons have come on record to deny any rift in the team. Captain Pollard is yet to speak up on the matter.
“We need to stop this foolishness that we are going on with. We sit here and look at the best team for the day and if Odean was not in the best team for the day it was because we thought Rovman Powell was better suited,” Coach Phil Simmons was quoted by the local media.
Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies has described the claims as being unsubstantiated and mischievous as it moved to head off any fallout.
In a statement released late Thursday, CWI said it was aware that “voice notes were circulated on social media, and in sections of the regional broadcast media, suggesting that there is a rift within the West Indies Senior Men’s team.
“Contrary to the unsubstantiated statements, containing unfounded and mischievous allegations, CWI is satisfied that there is no discord between the team captain and any member of the West Indies team.”

West-Indies Tour of India – West Indies vs England Series: West Indies lead England 2-1 in the five-match Betway T20 International Series.
The fourth and fifth matches of the series will be played at the same venue on Saturday and Sunday. Post that Pollard led team will fly to India on 2nd February.
