It was definitely not the outing that MS Dhoni and CSK were expecting from their talismanic skipper. The crowd rose to their feet when Ambati Rayudu was dismissed as the Chepauk erupted with ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ chants.
Aimed to give his side a good finish, Dhoni darted to the field as he met with a rousing reception from the crowd. The first ball he faced, he played a late cut to get a single as Ravindra Jadeja took strike.

Dhoni whacks his bat but there is no proper connection of the bat with the ball as the ball darted towards the cover.
Guess who? The apprentice, Hardik Pandya positioned at cover takes a simple catch as the stadium goes dead silent. It is Dhoni’s last game in IPL 2023 at his home stadium for this season. Be it Qualifier 2 or the IPL 2023 Finals, whichever game CSK plays next, the game will not be held in Chennai.
