Days ahead before India take on Sri Lanka, BCCI sent a special message to Virat Kohli as he embarks on this unique feat. He will join an exclusive club that has the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, and Sourav Ganguly who have played 100 Test matches before Virat Kohli.

“I remember the first time I heard about you when we were in Australia in 2007. You guys were playing the U19 World Cup in Malaysia. Some players in the team were discussing about you ‘that this player is what out for, – acchi batting kar leta hain (This guy bats well)’, after that, we played together. Your real strength has been able to motivate the next generation. It’s been fantastic to watch over the years, congratulations on your 100th test cricket appearance. I wish you many more happy cricketing years, Go Out and Do Well, good Luck” said Sachin Tendulkar.
“Virat’s had a great journey. Starting 10-11 years ago and getting to where he has reached today is an exceptional achievement. On behalf of the BCCI and also a former captain and cricketer who has gone on to play 100 test matches. He’s had a fantastic career, he’s still got some time left in his cricket career to achieve greater milestones and I hope he continues doing that. more I wish him all the very best,” said Sourav Ganguly.

Current head coach Rahul Dravid said, “To be able to play one is great, to be able to play a hundred is a fantastic achievement. It’s an achievement Virat Kohli can be very proud of. It’s been incredible to see him grow over the 10 years. It’s a fantastic achievement for one of India’s greatest players. All the best, enjoy the day, enjoy the occasion as it is something to feel very proud of”.
“I wasn’t worried about stats when I player. I had the aim of becoming the first player for Delhi to play 100 test matches. After me, Ishant Sharma achieved that feat and now Virat is going to achieve this landmark. I captained him in Ranji Trophy and he has done tremendously for the country. Main toh dekho kehata hu, ‘Hajme ki goli, Tewar main holi aur batting main Kohli, pure bharat ko pasand hain, (Special Pills for digestion, Holi among the top festivals and Kohli’s batting is loved by entire India),” said Virendra Sehwag in his usual funny way of speaking.

“Hundred test matches for India a great milestone. His passion and determination has made him play for so long for India. He is a fantastic player and can easily play 5-6 years for the country” said Dilip Vengsarkar.
Ishant Sharma said, “He’s a legend as his numbers speak for themselves. I have seen him since he was 17 years old and he’s done a fantastic job for the country. I wish him good luck.”
