Although the UFC hasn’t had a particularly poor year by any means in 2023, its competition has garnered more attention in the past 12 months than it has in a while. The PFL announced earlier today that they had acquired Bellator, making this an extremely exciting moment for the mixed martial arts scene.

DealStreetAsia recently reported that ONE Championship, a key sponsor of the promotion, has asked the Qatar Investment Authority for further cash.

It is possible, according to the source, that they won’t have enough time by “Q3 of next year” to raise the additional monies needed, which will only make matters worse if investors lose faith in the project.

Bellator Once Seen As The Closest Competitor Of UFC Now Merges With PFL

Bellator has been formally acquired by the PFL. PFL founder Donn Davis has announced that Bellator is now owned by a new company, putting an end to months of fan uncertainty.

In a post on November 20, Davis attested to the information.

Although not much is known at this time, Davis made reference to a promotional “mega-event” in 2024 that would pit PFL champions against Bellator champions.

This implies that, like Strikeforce with the UFC, Bellator’s fighter roster will be included in the PFL’s rankings.

After PFL 10 on Friday, November 24, when six new PFL champions will be crowned in the 2023 finals, matchups between champions will need to be determined.

The PFL is notable for having a weightless “super fight” category. In this division, Francis Ngannou and Jake Paul are the most well-known figures.

PFL is rapidly putting together a strong roster and, with their amazing group of up-and-coming talent, boundless cash, and increasing popularity, is well-positioned to have a big impact in 2024.
