Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the top UFC fighters in history with a fantastic career. However, his retirement at an early age has doubted his legacy of being the GOAT in the UFC. There is no doubt he did his best to become undefeated and inevitable. On the other hand, GSP proved himself on different scales becoming the most dominant fighter in the welterweight division with majority title defenses. Also, GSP competed in two weight classes which was quite shocking for the fans upon his return.

At UFC 254, Khabib Nurmagomedov defended the UFC lightweight title against Justin Gaethje. This fight was inside an empty arena during the pandemic in Abu Dhabi. The fight featured Khabib taking on the rising start Justin in a most-anticipated match. Gaetheje did trouble Khabib during the fight with his leg kicks but the Eagle was ahead with his grappling techniques. Eventually, the fight ended up with a submission win for Khabib Nurmagomedov.

This fight was another win for the lightweight champion and many thought he will be facing new opponents or try to switch to any other division. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen as he announced his retirement at the age of 32.

On the other hand, GSP made his UFC return in 2017 at UFC 217. This UFC comeback came after 4 years after GSP left UFC to work on his injuries and mental health. This was the biggest fight of his career as he faced Michael Bisping for the UFC Middleweight Title. Many fans expected the fight would end in Bisping’s favor due to GSP’s hiatus from the octagon.

However, GSP won the UFC Middleweight title defeating Michael Bisping via submission. The bout was highly anticipated as GSP won the last fight of his career at the age of 36 despite heavy damages in the initial round. This was the first time GSP jumped from the welterweight division to the middleweight and found the desired win.

GSP’s last fight was much bigger than Khabib Nurmagomedov’s which pulled the majority of the MMA fans from their seats. The UFC Legend suffered serious injuries during the match but still he managed to pick the win. This fight was much more intense then Khabib’s last match which was a shock after he announced his retirement. Meanwhile, GSP’s return made a great hype in the MMA world when he got the title shot in the middleweight division.
