Israel Adesanya also gave Alex Pereira a taste of his own medicine. After knocking out the Brazilian in round two, Izzy did the bow-and-arrow act for which Alex Pereira is known. It seemed to be a message sent towards his former nemesis Poatan, who had vowed to beat Adesanya for the fourth time across all sports.
Izzy is now the middleweight champion again, but he may have to go against Alex Pereira somewhere down the line. Despite his loss, Poatan is still a top-ranked 185-pounder. If he chooses to stay at middleweight, he is one or two wins far from earning another title shot.
Meanwhile, Israel Adesanya was a prolific and undefeated middleweight champion before losing at UFC 281. Now that he has the belt again, ‘The Last Stylebender’ is expected to remain the ultimatum for every UFC middleweight fighter.
