UFC Willing To Make Henry Cejudo vs. Merab Dvalishvili Happen On January 2024

The news that Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo are the targets lends credence to the earlier report that Sean O'Malley will be facing his old rival Marlon "Chito" Vera for the first time in his title defence.

Fans may finally get to witness the fight they have been waiting for, and the recently crowned UFC bantamweight champion may finally face a formidable opponent.

The UFC is reportedly close to completing Henry Cejudo vs. Merab Dvalishvili in a bantamweight match, according to Georgian MMA reporter Giorgi Kokiashvili. Sean O’Malley, the champion, would probably be the winner.

Both fighters have not signed contracts, according to Kokiashvili, and the intended date is unknown. The Georgian did, however, state that January is the target date for the campaign.

Henry Cejudo vs. Merab Dvalishvili On January 2024

The news that Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo are the targets lends credence to the earlier report that Sean O’Malley will be facing his old rival Marlon “Chito” Vera for the first time in his title defence. O’Malley only suffered one defeat in his professional career, falling to Vera via first-round TKO.

The bantamweight division has been agitated by Dvalishvili’s rising stardom, despite the opinion of many fans that he should face O’Malley for the next title. Right now, Dvalishvili has won nine straight fights. Conversely, earlier this year at UFC 288, Henry Cejudo, the former two-division champion, lost in his comeback to the cage against Aljamain Sterling.

Insidesport

Sean O’Malley has celebrated numerous victories on social media since he unseated Aljamain Sterling in August, but he hasn’t verified any reports of his comeback.

The most recent instance of “Sugar” grabbing fans’ attention was when he hinted at a boxing match with Devin Haney amid the aftermath of Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou. For the foreseeable future, O’Malley’s will probably stay in the octagon, though.

O’Malley appears to be circling Marlon Vera, Merab Dvalishvili, or Henry Cejudo as his next opponent in the UFC. He has created a backstory for each of his three fictitious opponents in the event of a fight. However, since Vera prevailed the same night O’Malley won the title, numerous rumours of a rematch between the two have surfaced.

Although O’Malley’s first championship defence has not yet been announced by the UFC, fans may anticipate seeing the rising star in a future pay-per-view major event.
