On Dana White’s Contender Series’ inaugural season, Dawson won a contract with the UFC. Grant Dawson and Bobby Green’s lightweight match will serve as the main event of the next UFC Fight Night which will be aired at ESPN+. This Saturday, UFC Vegas 80 will begin with preliminary matches at 5 p.m. ET, followed by the main event at 7 p.m. ET.

This will be Dawson’s first major event in the UFC. This comes after winning a UFC contract in Dana White’s Contender Series’ inaugural season.

He has seen seven years of success since this was shot back in 2017. In order to live up to the initial excitement, “KDG” has given action-packed battles and finishes.

The lightweight rankings have the Wisconsin native at No. 10.

While Tony Ferguson, who is on a six-fight losing run, was lost by submission in Bobby Green’s most recent contest, Ferguson is not yet listed among the top 10 fighters in his division, AS notes.

He will therefore give it everything against Dawson in an effort to advance his chances of making the lightweight ranking.

Green claimed that he hadn’t even heard of Dawson and that he didn’t find him impressive.

“I didn’t even know who he was. I’d never heard of him and that goes to his team’s work team. I think the issue is that it’s been a little boring, and he’s been fighting in the Apex,” Green added to AS.

“But, if he had been liked by the fans, he would have felt the crowd pressure by now. He’s got some finishes, but it’s a snore-fest. The real challenge for me will be to make a boring guy exciting. That will be the real fight.”

Preliminaries for UFC Vegas 80 begin at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, the main event begins at 7 p.m. ET, and the main event between Grant Dawson and Bobby Green is expected to begin at 9:30 p.m. ET. You can tune in on ESPN+.
