What is Technical Decision Victory?: The Technical Decision Victory is given when the fight is stopped after certain number of rounds because of an unintentional illegal blow (like a headbutt or knee to downed opponent) and the fighter which was ahead in the points is given the win.
UFC Vegas 51 witnessed this incident twice on the same night, first during the Heavyweight Bout between Chris Branett and Martin Buday and second during the co main event between Caio Borralho and Gadzhi Omargadzhiev.
Both Martin Buday and Caio Borralho landed an illegal blow but were given victories under Technical Decision. Some fans and MMA fighters obviously doesn’t agree or happy with it.
DC unhappy with the Technical Decision: The Former Two Division Champion and UFC Veteran Daniel Cormier, who was also one of the three Commentators of the fight openly depicted his disagreement with the technical decision rule.
He questioned Caio Borralho for his intentions during the post fight interview and even tweeted that every single strike he threw in the Octagon was intentional.
He added that both Martin Buday and Caio Borralho should have been disqualified and questioned why Petr Yan was disqualified after being in the exact similar situation.
