UFC: Michael Chandler lashes out on Dustin Poirier for DISRESPECTING and REFUSES to fight him
Michael Chandler rejects Dustin Poirier: Michael Chandler after knocking out Tony Ferguson in UFC 274 called out all his potential opponents, Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor, Charles Oliveira, and Justin Gaethje, but ignored Poirier’s name.
His front kick knockout has caused a whirlpool response to his comeback in the lightweight division. He also expressed his interest in moving to the welterweight division.
He appeared on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour show to speak about his knockout and next endeavors.
When asked about Dustin Poirier’s fight he said,
“It would be Diaz. I have no interest in fighting Dustin, honestly. To be quite honest, I think he’s a great dude. I think I like him for the sport, but I also think I was completely disregarded and pushed aside whenever I came into the organization. He completely disregarded me, he acted as though I didn’t deserve to be where I was.”
Michael Chandler continued, “Maybe it’s a bit more of a personal issue, but I also don’Charles Oliveira think… is Dustin a draw? I guess he’s the No. 2 guy [in the UFC rankings] now, but he’s just kind of stayed at No. 2 and I don’t know how active he’s going to be. I did see him tweet that I was saying everyone else’s name but his as if I didn’t want to fight him because of technical reasons or what not, but it’s more like I forgot about him.”
Michael Chandler is definitely aiming for the title. Despite the fact that Dustin is ranked second in the lightweight division, still ‘Iron’ has refused to fight him.
However, ‘The Diamond’ has been dormant for some time, being at the top and top fighters turning down fight with him may not be a positive sign for his career.
Eventually, fingers are crossed about Chandler and Poirier’s next opponents and the lightweight division is of spectacular comebacks and downs.
