Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya doesn’t envision the UFC 291 main event between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje last for all 25 minutes. Follow UFC News Updates with Insidesport.IN
Highly aware of both the lightweight’s striking abilities, Adesanya previewed the upcoming BMF title fight in his latest YouTube video.
He highlighted Justin Gaethje’s leg kicks to play a pivotal role in the fight but also credited Dustin Poirier’s chances of taking and giving back punishment.
That said, ‘Izzy’ didn’t give an official pick for the fight but favored ‘Diamond’ Poirier to become the net BMF champion after Jorge Masvidal.
Reflecting on his views on the fight, Israel Adesanya said,
“DP [Dustin Poirier] keeps it disciplined as much as he can or when he has to keep it disciplined, he does unless he has to brawl his way out or something then.”
“I think it might either again catch him or win the decision but I just feel like the pace they are both gonna bring, it’s not going to the distance. I don’t know who is going to win but If I have to put my money on, I will put on DP.”
Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje clashed against each other back in 2018 which ended with Poirier stopping ‘The Highlight’ in round 4.
More than five years later, they are back at each other with the BMF belt on the line. The winner f the clash is also expected to earn a shot at the undisputed 155 lbs UFC gold which is currently held by Islam Makhachev.
