UFC Austin: Cody Brundage Secures KO Win Over Zach Reese

With the victory, Brundage extends his winning streak to two fights and records his second knockout since joining the UFC in 2021.

At UFC Austin, something seemed to be in the air following Cody Brundage’s spectacular slam knockout victory against Zach Reese, which came immediately after Drakkar Klose had accomplished the same feat in the bout that had preceded him.

Following his first-round takedown of Zachary Reese, Cody Brundage had to defend off a triangle choke attempt. Brundage chose to take hold of his opponent and lift him into the air before sending him crashing back down to the canvas instead of attempting to escape.

Back To Back Slam Knockouts At UFC Austin

Zach Reese’s legs went lifeless and the side of his head bounced off the ground after Brundage’s hit, much like what had happened in Klose’s battle only minutes before. The first round ended at 1:49 when Brundage landed a few more punches before the referee hurried to halt the fight at UFC Austin.

After Brundage’s opening blow clipped Reese, the battle went into a crazy sequence, but Reese quickly grabbed the leg to send the action to the ground. After that, Reese eventually raised his knees in an attempt at submission as Brundage worked on a ground-and-pound attack.

For a brief minute, it appeared as though Reese might lock up a triangle choke, but the strategy backfired as Brundage tightened his hold and propelled him into the air for the finish slam. After Reese was knocked down, the crowd erupted in excitement as Cody Brundage decisively finished the fight, marking the 14th slam knockout in UFC history (the 13th occurred with Klose’s victory over Joe Solecki).

With the victory, Brundage extends his winning streak to two fights and records his second knockout since joining the UFC in 2021. In a notable coincidence, Brundage’s slam became the fourteenth in UFC history after Drakkar Klose won the thirteenth slam KO in the previous bout.
