Islam Makhachev confirms Khabib Nurmagomedov’s absence at UFC 284
Islam said, “When the cage door close, no one is there for you. Naturally, it will be different, but I’ve already engaged in combat without him a few times. He also can’t constantly be here with me.”
“Of course, it’s great to have him here,” Makhachev continued. “Because he knows all the games being played, I always like having him around. You don’t need to worry about this because he knows what you need for the fight and the weight cut. Having someone with his level of experience is usually a plus. You are not required to expend mental effort on other things. Nevertheless, I know he needs to spend more time with his family.”

Volkanovski also minimized Khabib Nurmagomedov’s absence from his opponent’s camp and corner, essentially to prevent it from being used as an excuse if “The Great” prevails.
Once all of this was over, he warned, “They best not use that as an excuse. Makhachev will get ready at the end of the day, and we will fight. He doesn’t require assistance holding his hand. He doesn’t require a companion to be inside with him. That isn’t a genuine fighter. Therefore, that best not come up when my hand is raised.”
Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov retire?
Khabib Nurmagomedov stated that spending more time with his family led to his retirement. During battles, he needed help to avoid constantly moving from one location to another. Due to his extensive knowledge of the fight game, “The Eagle” is a benefit to have on the sidelines, according to Makhachev.
