During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Sean O’Malley talked about a variety of topics including his upcoming against the Russian. Interestingly, he believes Petr Yan took the fight because a win over him will add value to Yan’s attempt to fight for the title again.

Moreover, Sean O’Malley also proceeded to suggest that he is one of the biggest names in the UFC, he said:
“It’s a risky fight for Petr, well maybe he is. He looks at me and you know he is a high level boxer, he’s a level MMA fighter, he’s gotta look at me know that I have legitimate skill. Not really in the top 10. But I think you know, in his head a win over me is a huge win.”

Sean O’Malley further added that he is the biggest name in the Bantamweight division and one of the biggest names in the UFC, and for that reason ‘Suga’ isn’t surprised that Petr Yan took this fight.
“I’m the biggest name in the Bantamweight division, one of the biggest names in the UFC. So, I guess in those terms I am not surprised he took the fight.”
It is safe to say Sean O’Malley doesn’t lack confidence going into the toughest test of his career. He certainly believes that he can beat Petr Yan on October 22nd.
However, Petr Yan is a former champion and is much more experienced than Sean O’Malley. On paper, there’s no reason for Yan to be worried of but he can’t take ‘Suga’ lightly who’ll be coming in to upset the odds on October 22nd.
