Is Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey bigger PPV superstars than Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC?

New statistics have revealed that WWE superstar Brock Lesnar and former UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey were significantly bigger pay-per-view draws during their time in the UFC than current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

According to Bet MGM’s reports, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s name appears only once in the 15 biggest PPV events in UFC history, and that was in his fight against Conor McGregor, who appears on the list seven times.

In contrast, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey each appear twice, with the following events and viewings:- UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez: 1,050,000, UFC 207: Rousey vs. Nunes: 1,100,000, UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin: 1,160,000, UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm: 1,100,000. In comparison, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s biggest PPV event was UFC 229 against Conor McGregor, which sold around 2.4 million pay-per-views.

Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly one of the greatest lightweights of all time and has built a remarkable legacy in the sport. But Lesnar and Rousey were much bigger stars in terms of pay-per-view sales and mainstream crossover appeal during their UFC careers. Lesnar headlined 5 UFC pay-per-views that each sold over 1 million buys, and Rousey headlined multiple events that topped 1 million buys as well.

Why Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey Sold Bigger PPVs?

Lesnar brought his star power from the WWE into the UFC, using his personality and wrestling skills to capture the imagination of fans. Rousey was a pioneer for women in MMA and built her brand through a combination of world-class judo skills and charisma.

While Khabib is revered for his dominant wrestling and undefeated record, he has struggled at times to connect with casual audiences and sell high numbers on pay-per-view without a big name opponent like Conor McGregor.

The numbers don’t lie. Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey were on another level as pay-per-view superstars during their UFC careers compared to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Of course, Khabib’s legacy in the sport is unmatched, but in terms of selling power and crossover stardom, Lesnar and Rousey remain in a class of their own.
