The current PFL welterweight champion Sadibou Sy’s striking is highly regarded by UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland.

Sy (16-6-2 MMA, 10-4-2 PFL), one of Strickland’s primary training partners at Xtreme Couture, will face Magomed Magomedkerimov again in the welterweight final on Friday at the 2023 PFL Championship event.

Sean Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) gushed about Sy’s striking and the challenges it gives him in practice as he gets ready for his own championship showdown against Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 297 main event on January 20.

What Qualities Of Sadibou Sy Does Sean Strickland Appreciate The Most?

The contentious and vocal UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, who trains with the Swede in Las Vegas, is one of his biggest admirers.

Sean Strickland said on his YouTube Channel that Sadibou Sy would be the welterweight champion, and if it happens he might have to fight Sy as his opponent for the middleweight belt. Strickland believes that Sy is the best striker he has sparred to date.

To quote Strickland elaborates, “I’ll tell you what makes Sadi so good: The f*cking man thinks, dude. When he’s sparring, he just like – he’s calculated, he understands, you know? To be a really great standup artist, a lot of it comes from the mind. If someone gives you an IQ test, what do they test? They test you on reading patterns and predictability. When you’re sparring, all you’re doing is reading patterns and finding out predictabilities. High-level striking is a big IQ test.”

Sean Strickland and Sadibou Sy both have been training together a lot lately and have a great deal of respect for one another’s combat techniques.

The cunning veteran Magomed Magomedkerimov, who took home the first PFL Tournament title in 2018, will square off against Sadibou Sy in the championship match.
