Following his thrilling first-round knockout victory against Alfred Khashakyan in 2017, which was sufficient to lock up a spot in Dana White’s Contender Series second season, O’Malley signed a contract with the UFC. Sean O’Malley shared with “The Breakfast Club” how Snoop Dog played a pivotal point in his rise to stardom in the UFC. Sean stated that Snoop Dog has been commentating on his fights since he was of the age 21, and 22 on the contender series.

Sean O’Malley said, he and Snoop Dog were in a trailer, “ they just kept passing it. I walked out of the trailer, and there were a bunch of cameras. A bunch of people around. I hadn’t smoked, probably for three or four weeks leading up to a fight. I just got a crazy knockout. I just got signed to the UFC. Now I’m smoking with Snoop and when I was leaving the trailer, that felt like a movie. That was crazy. I don’t remember what we talked about at all.”

After that, O’Malley undoubtedly fulfilled his share of the expectations. On his way to a championship opportunity, he defeated well-known fighters like Petr Yan and Eddie Wineland. The increasing excitement around “Suga” was fueled by his victory against Aljamain Sterling in August, when he was crowned UFC bantamweight champion.
