Sean O’Malley Believes He Is ‘Almost’ On Conor McGregor Level Stardom
Newly crowned bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley sees himself edging closer to the level of stardom achieved by Conor McGregor, signaling his ascent in the realm of UFC recognition

The UFC has seen its fair share of superstars who’ve carved out success and fame. Yet, there are always exceptions who become synonymous with the sport, like Michael Jordan did for the NBA or Sachin Tendulkar in cricket. Enter the UFC, where Conor McGregor’s name stands tall for elevating the brand and attracting fans. Now, Sean O’Malley’s bantamweight title win at UFC 292 against Aljamain Sterling has sparked discussions about his potential rise to superstardom, similar to McGregor. And even the new bantamweight champ himself holds that belief.

Sean O’Malley Say He Will Top Conor McGregor

“This is the beginning of the suga era,” declared the fresh bantamweight titleholder, Sugar O’Malley. The truth is, “Suga” enjoys substantial backing, as seen in his impressive following. He’s well on his way to becoming, if not already, a major contender in the organization.

His upcoming actions are expected to hold significance, and his strategic intentions are clear. But does he match McGregor’s stature? Suga believes he’s not there yet, but he’s confident that with one more stride, he’ll reach that level.

Talking to ESPN MMA, hestated, “We’re not quite there yet, but one more knockout, and I think it puts me over the top.” O’Malley went on to say, he sees a couple of ways to get to McGregor’s level. Defending the belt is a clear path. Knocking out his opponent in the first title defense would definitely make a statement.

Or going up a weight class is another route. Or like McGregor doing a boxing matchup and he also has one name in his mind that catches his attention is Gervonta Davis, who’s 5-foot-3. So as per O’Malley, “That’s a fight that interests me.” Indeed, this is what McGregor done and O’Malley has the same plan.

O’Malley’s marketable charisma shines, particularly in the void left by Conor McGregor. The UFC community sought a figure like him to assume the role of a UFC ambassador. While other UFC stars enjoy widespread fame, O’Malley possesses a distinct quality that could catapult him to genuine superstardom, attracting enormous audiences to arenas.
