Ryan Garcia Agrees To Fight UFC Champion Sean O’Malley As ‘Tune Up’ Post UFC 292

Ryan Garcia has now cryptically agreed to fight newly crowned UFC champion Sean O'Malley

Ryan Garcia shared his excitement for Sean O’Malley knocking the bantamweight title out of Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 with a passionate social tweet. However, the scenario seems to have changed in just a few hours.

Boxing superstar Ryan Garcia and UFC champion Sean O’Malley are now feuding on Twitter and teasing a potential fight against each other.

It all began with Sean O’Malley asking for a boxing clash against Gervonta Davis in the post-fight press conference of UFC 292. Ryan Garcia criticized the stint and warned ‘Sugar’ about getting ‘knocked out’ in a boxing clash.

It didn’t age well as Sean O’Malley reminded ‘KingRy’ of his recent defeat against Gervonta Davis via stoppage. In response, ‘KingRy’ cryptically called out the UFC champion. Here’s a look at the social media exchange between them.

Garcia and O’Malley have both suffered one defeat in their respective sports. That said, ‘KingRY’ has never been a world champion in boxing, but Sean O’Malley is now the UFC bantamweight champion of the world.

‘Sugar’ O’ Malley is contracted under the UFC and cannot appear in a pro boxing fight without prior concern about his promotion. It remains to be seen whether Dana White allows such a move, which he did for Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

Meanwhile, O’Malley is now the reigning champion at 135 lbs, one of the most competitive divisions in the UFC. He wouldn’t run out of challenges anytime soon.

Who Should Sean O’Malley Fight Next?

Sean O’Malley called out Marlon Vera for a rematch at UFC 296 in December after winning the 135 lbs belt. Meanwhile, he changed his stance on ‘Chito’ in the post-fight presser.

Petr Yan or Merab Dvalishvili is also likable to earn a title shot. Amongst everyone, Aljamain Sterling is also eligible for an immediate title shot. ‘Funkmaster’ had defended his belt thrice against Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw, and Henry Cejudo before losing to ‘Sugar’ at UFC 292.

The current scenario validates O’Malley to be ready for many fighters.
