Petr Yan is married to Julia Yan. The couple has been married for a few years now, and the Russian often posts pictures of his family to social media on occasions like Christmas, Easter, or other such occasions. The couple also has two children together, both boys. The older son is Daniil, born in 2016, while the second is Konstantin, born in 2020. Therefore, even though Yan prefers to keep things under a lid, he shares enough about his family to prove that he is indeed a family man first.

Yan made his debut in the UFC in 2018. However, he did not make his mark on the promotion until 2019. In just his sixth UFC fight, Yan took on UFC veteran Urijah Faber and put on a clinical performance. As a result, the Russian earned a title shot against Brazilian legend Jose Aldo.
Once again, Yan put on an impeccable performance, as he claimed the undisputed title. However, Yan infamously lost his title to Aljamain Sterling after an illegal knee. Since then, he claimed the interim title with a fantastic win against Cory Sandhagen.
However, Yan lost to Sterling again in the rematch. Moreover, things went from bad to worse as Yan lost a controversial decision to Sean O’Malley in his last fight. Therefore, this bout against Merab Dvalishvili is a make-or-break contest.
