Jones took his time moving up to heavyweight as he wanted it to be on his terms. The MMA GOAT is meticulous in his preparation and took two years to fight at heavyweight. And it appears as though he is leaving no stone unturned ahead of his first title defense.

Ryan Gordon took to social media to share a picture of him and Jones after training with the caption, “Back to work. 5 Weeks” and tagged Jones. This is in reference to his last match on October 1 and five weeks out for Jones.

Gordon is widely regarded as the best no-gi Jiu-Jitsu grappler in the world. He has dominated the no-gi circuit for years. And Jones training with Gordon is a scary combination as Jones is already very dominant on the ground.

The champion even took a jibe at his next opponent in the comments by commenting, “Meanwhile Stipe over there preparing for a boxing match.” This comment reveals Jones’ game plan for the fight on November 11. Clearly ‘bones’ aims to use the same strategy that won him the title.

However, this is an interesting challenge as Stipe Miocic has not lost by submission for over 11 years. His last submission defeat came in 2011. Since then, he has fought Daniel Cormier thrice and avoided a submission. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if Jones can pull it off.

What do you make of this move from Jon Jones? Do you think training with Ryan Gordon will help Jones submit Stipe Miocic?
