When McGregor asked Dana White and the producers what would happen if it was a clean sweep, White answered, saying he didn’t know. However, the producers said they could ask some from the other team to join McGregor. This would be adding salt to the wounds for Team McGregor.
However, there is still one fight left. McGregor’s fourth-seeded lightweight Rico Disciullo will face Team Chandler’s number-one seed, Hunter Azure. If Disciullo can beat Azure, Team McGregor has one fighter in the tournament and the show could continue as normal.
Despite this possibility, it is highly unlikely. Therefore, the UFC has to think of something different. The filming of the show is already over and, therefore, reports suggest that the UFC considered a format change. This could mean asking four members from team Chandler to join team McGregor. While it does not make the most sense, it could be the only thing left for the UFC.
Regardless of how the UFC helps team McGregor stay in TUF 31, we can be sure that Episode 8 of TUF 31 will be extremely exciting. We will find out if the ultimate fighter experiences its first-ever clean sweep. We will also get to witness a high-stakes bout and, most definitely, some more entertainment from McGregor.
